VISIT TO CLARK JUNE 29 2024

Elizabeth and our friend Ellen went to an herb lecture here given by a local who runs a store in Williamstown,  So we all got to tour the newest exhibition at the Clark and I got to poke around and see my old favorites as well.

This practically unknown French artist was featured.  

I loved about half of the art and disliked the rest.  It is probably more me than the artist, but the paintings of large groups all assembled for  meeting or perhaps to cut off the head of the son of Brutus or some other such carnage were not my taste.

I liked best the portraits.  They were so real and so different from some of the very stiff portraits we often see.  I loved this one in particular.

Homer is the father of stories.  Such a fragile old man he looks here.  I liked this one.

We naturally need to include the card players.

I liked this photo of the king setting off on a journey.  The boats are very overcrowded.  I particularly liked the little guy in the detail. Such a small little boat.
